Thickeners for WS010 Epoxy Resin
402 Milled Glass Fiber Blend
High-density thickener containing ground glass fibers, suitable for small, semi-structural repairs, filling voids, or minor damage to fiberglass. The finished repairs are hard and durable. When mixed with West System resin at approximately 25% by weight, it produces a thick paste that can be applied with a brush or spatula and held in place with PVC tape or peel ply for a smooth finish. Typically used for repairs of osmosis damage on rudders, fins, and impact damage.
403 Microfibers
High-density microfiber thickener - a blend of cotton and cellulose fibers used as a thickening additive in assembly work. The resin thickened with microfibers ensures good substrate impregnation and excellent gap filling. Add 4% to 16% Add 403 filler by weight to the West System epoxy mix - white
406 Colloidal Silica
High-density colloidal silica - the most versatile and commonly used - very fine, it is used for high-strength bonding, beading, and filling large imperfections. When added to other additives, it improves the spreadability and grain of the resulting fillers. Add 3-8% by weight to the West System mix - white
410 Microlight
Microlight, low-density thickener - ideal for obtaining a lightweight, easy-to-work filler, particularly suitable for large areas. Microlight can be easily mixed into the epoxy mix with additions of between 7% and 16% by weight, and once catalyzed, it is easier to sand than any other filler. It holds a full-thickness bevel and is more economical than other fillers. It is not recommended for high-temperature applications. It cannot be treated with dark colors - when catalyzed it is reddish brown in color - it is ivory in color
