Sikaflex®-292i structural sealant is a single-component, thixotropic polyurethane adhesive with a paste-like consistency that cures when exposed to atmospheric moisture. It has excellent adhesive properties and good mechanical strength. Sikaflex®-292i meets the low flame spread requirements established by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). - ADVANTAGES: Good gap-filling properties - Can be painted - Bonds well to a wide variety of substrates
Wheelmark approved - Solvent-free and low VOC content - Uses: Sikaflex®-292i is suitable for structural joints in marine constructions that will be subjected to high dynamic stresses. It is suitable for bonding metals, particularly aluminium (including anodised finishes), primers and paint coatings (2-component systems), ceramic materials, plastics such as GRP (unsaturated polyester resin), ABS, etc. Seek advice from the manufacturer and carry out tests on original substrates before using Sikaflex®-292i on materials subject to stress cracking. This product is only suitable for experienced professional users. Tests must be carried out with actual substrates and conditions to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.
Surface preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of any traces of grease, oil and dust. Surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is essential for a durable bond. Recommendations for surface preparation can be found in the current edition of the appropriate Sika® pretreatment table. Please note that these recommendations are based on experience and must always be verified by testing on original substrates. Application: Sikaflex®-292i can be extruded between 10 °C and 40 °C (climate and product), but changes in reactivity and application properties must be taken into account. The optimum temperature for the substrate and sealant is between 15 °C and 25 °C.
Please note that viscosity will increase at low temperatures. For easy application, condition the adhesive to room temperature before use.
